About the Survey

This survey, sponsored by the Capital Region Planning Commission (CRPC) and Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development (DOTD) is a survey of household demographics, daily travel activities, and typical travel patterns throughout the capital region. The last such survey was done in early 1990's. Our region has significantly grown in population and employment over the last couple of decades. Travel patterns significantly changed and traffic congestion worsened. A new survey is long overdue.

This information will help CRPC and DOTD understand the impact of growth, development, and other community changes on the transportation system. CRPC is committed to reducing traffic congestion, increasing your transportation options, and improving your overall travel experience.

The survey region includes all of Ascension and East Baton Rouge parishes and portions of West Baton Rouge, Iberville, and Livingston parishes. The region is home to approximately 735,000 residents.

Thousands of randomly selected households will be invited to participate. If you did not receive an invitation and would like to participate, please contact us to request a password. Households have the option to complete the survey online, by phone, or through a smartphone app developed by the project consultants, RSG. Your input matters! Your response will help us understand how day-to-day travel varies for residents throughout the greater Baton Rouge region and how we can make our transportation system more efficient.
